The much-anticipated Handicrafts Expo “Artefacts-2026” has commenced at the EPCH Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC), Boranada, Jodhpur, bringing together artisans, exporters, and buyers from across India and abroad. The five-day event is being held from 15 to 19 January 2026 and aims to showcase India’s rich heritage of handcrafted products.
The expo was formally inaugurated by Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who highlighted the importance of promoting traditional Indian handicrafts on the global stage. Senior officials from the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and representatives from the Rajasthan Government were also present at the opening ceremony.
A Major Platform for Local Artisans
The Artefacts-2026 Expo provides a valuable opportunity for Jodhpur’s handicraft manufacturers and MSMEs to connect directly with national and international buyers. Exhibitors are presenting a wide range of products including wooden furniture, metal artefacts, textiles, leather goods, home décor items, and handcrafted accessories.
State leaders have emphasized that such initiatives will help establish Jodhpur as a leading handicraft hub in Rajasthan, generating employment and encouraging entrepreneurship among local artisans.
Positive Response from Visitors and Buyers
According to initial reports, the expo has received an overwhelming response on the first two days, with a large number of buyers and visitors attending. The event also features a Reverse Buyers-Seller Meet, enabling direct business networking and export opportunities for participants.
Officials noted that the fair is expected to boost trade, tourism, and investment in the handicraft sector, particularly benefiting the artisan communities of western Rajasthan.
