Jodhpur, Rajasthan: The city of Jodhpur is preparing for a historic moment as the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir is set to be inaugurated on September 25, 2025, following seven years of dedicated construction and craftsmanship.
The inauguration will be marked by the Murti-Pratishtha Mahotsav, a sacred idol consecration festival scheduled from September 22 to 25, 2025. Devotees from across India and abroad are expected to take part in the celebrations. To ensure global participation, BAPS has also announced a live webcast of the event, beginning on September 25 at 6:45 am IST on the Aastha Bhajan channel.
Architectural Excellence
The temple stands as a testament to traditional artistry and devotion. Built entirely from Jodhpur sandstone, the structure revives the Nagara or Maru-Gurjara style of architecture, widely admired for its intricate carvings and timeless appeal. Using an interlocking stone system without cement or mortar, the temple showcases both durability and eco-friendly design.
The grand complex features five towering shikhars (spires), a majestic central dome, 14 smaller domes, and finely crafted stone latticework that allows natural cooling inside the temple.
Scale and Green Initiatives
Spread across 42 bighas of land, the temple premises include 10 bighas dedicated to landscaped gardens. With over 500 trees and 5,500 plants, the complex blends spirituality with sustainability, offering visitors a serene and green environment.
Craftsmanship and Effort
The project reflects the tireless effort of more than 500 artisans from Rajasthan and Gujarat, who devoted years to hand-carving and assembling the stone structure. Their craftsmanship has created a landmark that is expected to become both a spiritual center and a cultural attraction for Jodhpur.
